Paprika and sesame breadsticks are a quick, budget-friendly homemade bake from just six ingredients: a crisp crust outside and a soft crumb inside. A great go-to snack for the table, and a handy bite to pack for school or work. I recommend baking a batch - and a special thank you to Olga for such a wonderful recipe!

Paprika and Sesame Breadsticks
Yeasted breadsticks with ground paprika and sesame seeds, crisp outside and soft inside. A quick, budget-friendly homemade bread for the table or a snack.
Ingredients
Method
- Sift and mix the flour, salt, yeast, and paprika in a deep bowl.
- Pour in the warm water and knead the dough. Shape it into a ball and set it in a warm place for an hour to rise.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured counter and roll it into a sheet 0.5 cm thick.
- Scatter the sesame seeds over the sheet, then cut it into strips about 1 cm wide with a knife.

- Transfer the strips to a floured baking sheet, twist them slightly if you like, and let them rest for another 20 minutes in a warm place.
- Bake in an oven preheated to 200 °C for 10-15 minutes. Let the finished breadsticks cool - and they're ready to eat. Bon appetit!

Notes
Breadsticks taste best on the day they're baked. To bring back the crunch the next day, warm them in the oven for a couple of minutes.
Tips
- Roll the sheet 0.5 cm thick, strips 1 cm wide. Cut them thinner for crunchier breadsticks, thicker for more crumb.
- Scatter the sesame seeds over the sheet before cutting and press them in gently - that way they won't fall off when you move the strips to the baking sheet.
- You can twist the strips as you transfer them - the breadsticks come out twisted and pretty.
- Don't skip the 20-minute proof on the baking sheet: without it the breadsticks come out tough instead of crisp outside and soft inside.
