Yeast dough cabbage rolls are a hearty homemade bake: 500 g of dough, the same amount of braised cabbage, 30 minutes of proofing, and half an hour in the oven at 190-200°C. This amount makes two golden sesame-topped rolls. I recommend serving them fully cooled, sliced into pieces. Enjoy!

Fragrant yeast rolls with braised cabbage, topped with sesame seeds and baked until golden.

Cook Time 30 minutes
Rising time 40 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 35 minutes
Servings: 2 rolls

Ingredients

  • 500 g yeast dough
  • 500 g braised cabbage with carrot and onion
  • 30 g sesame seeds
  • 1 egg for brushing the rolls

Method

  1. Make the yeast dough and prepare the braised cabbage - mine has carrot and onion.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 2 pieces. Roll each one thinly into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  3. Spread the filling over the dough, roll it up, pinch the seam and roll it firmly.
  4. Place the rolls on a baking sheet, cover with a towel and let proof for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Brush with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in an oven preheated to 190-200°C for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  6. Let the finished rolls cool completely and slice. Enjoy!

Notes

A recipe for yeast dough with water is available on the site.

Tips

  • Any yeast dough will work - for example, yeast dough with water.
  • I braise the cabbage with carrot and onion, but you can make the filling to your own taste.
  • Be sure to pinch the seam and roll it firmly so the roll doesn't come apart while baking.
