Ingredients

  • 300-315 g flour
  • 130 ml water can be cold
  • 15 g fresh yeast or 6 g dry yeast
  • 30 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 40 ml olive oil vegetable oil works too

Method

  1. If using a bread machine, load in all the ingredients and start the dough cycle. Without a bread machine, dissolve the yeast in the water - the water can be cold.
  2. Sift the flour into the liquid, add the salt and sugar and knead the dough by hand for 5-7 minutes.
  3. At the very end, pour in the olive oil and knead for another couple of minutes until smooth. Check with the finger-poke test: the dough should spring back quickly.
  4. Shape the dough into portions for buns, or leave it as a ball, cover with a towel and let it rise in a warm spot.

Tips

  • If you have a bread machine, just load all the ingredients in and start the dough cycle.
  • The water can be cold - it doesn't affect the rise.
  • Check the dough is ready with the finger-poke test: well-kneaded dough springs back quickly.
  • Olive oil can be swapped for regular vegetable oil.
