Chocolate fondant is a French cake with a molten center that bakes for exactly 10 minutes at 200 °C and is served hot. Five ingredients give you 4 individual cakes: serve them with a scoop of ice cream and berries. This is seriously good, I recommend it.

Ingredients

  • 30 g flour
  • 30 g sugar
  • 70 g heat-resistant chocolate chips or regular
  • 50 g butter
  • 2 eggs

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
  2. With a mixer, beat the eggs with the sugar.
  3. Melt the butter with the chocolate until smooth (a microwave works well).
  4. Combine both mixtures and beat again with the mixer.
  5. Turn off the mixer, sift in the flour, gently fold it in and divide the batter among molds greased with vegetable oil - you'll get 4 ceramic molds.
  6. Bake for exactly 10 minutes. Remove, let cool for a couple of minutes and turn out onto a plate.
  7. Serve hot with powdered sugar, a scoop of ice cream and berries.

Notes

Serve the fondant only while warm - that's when the molten chocolate center flows out of the cake.

Tips

  • Don't overbake the fondant: exactly 10 minutes, or the center will stop being molten.
  • Be sure to grease the molds with vegetable oil - the cake will unmold easily and hold its shape.
  • Serve right away while hot, dusted with powdered sugar and topped with a scoop of ice cream and berries.
