Mega tasty spicy tomato crackers - crunchy, fragrant and completely homemade. A great, safe alternative to store-bought chips and snacks: they go well with both beer and coffee. I recommend everyone bake these and give them a try, and my thanks to Maria for such a great recipe find!

Savory Crackers
Crunchy homemade tomato crackers with fresh herbs and black pepper - a safe alternative to store-bought chips and snacks, delicious with both beer and coffee.
Ingredients
Method
- Combine the flour and half a teaspoon of salt in a bowl, add the butter and rub it into the flour with your hands until crumbly.
- Add the fresh herbs, tomato paste and black pepper. Gradually knead the dough, adding water a little at a time.
- Gather the dough into a ball and refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and roll it out thin - 2-3 mm thick.
- Prick the dough with a fork and cut into diamonds or squares, whichever you prefer. Transfer to a baking sheet, brush the top with beaten egg and sprinkle with salt.

- Bake in a preheated 180 °C (355 °F) oven for 10-15 minutes, until crisp. Enjoy!

Notes
If baking for children, leave out the heat - skip the black pepper.
Tips
- For kids: leave out the heat - simply skip the black pepper. If you're baking for yourself, feel free to keep it in.
- Serving: these crackers are delicious with beer, and also with coffee.
- Roll the dough thin, 2-3 mm - that's exactly what makes the crackers truly crunchy.
