Burger with Meat Patty

A homemade burger with a chopped meat patty and homemade buns is miles tastier and healthier than store-bought. Dough made with milk and cottage cheese gives soft, fluffy sesame buns, and the burger comes together in a couple of minutes: mustard, ketchup, sweet onion, a hot patty and cheddar. Recommended, enjoy!

Ingredients

Buns
  • 270 g wheat flour +1 tsp for the starter
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 125 ml warm milk can be half water
  • 25 g melted butter
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 tbsp smooth cottage cheese
  • 1 egg half into the dough, half for brushing
  • 1 pinch vanillin
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling
Burger assembly
  • 1 bun
  • 1 frozen meat patty
  • 1 cheddar cheese slice
  • 20 g lettuce
  • 10 g onion
  • mustard
  • ketchup

Method

  1. Pour the warm liquid (milk mixed with water) into a deep bowl, add the yeast, sugar, salt, vanillin, melted butter, half the beaten egg and the smooth cottage cheese. Mix well.
  2. Sift in the flour in batches, adding the vegetable oil at the very end. Knead the dough, gather it into a ball and set it in a warm spot for 1-1.5 hours.
  3. Divide the dough into pieces (you should get 5 buns of 100 g each), shape into balls, place on a baking tray and let proof for 30 minutes.
  4. Brush the buns with the remaining beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake for 25-30 minutes at 180°C. Let the finished buns cool.
  5. Cut a bun in half and toast it lightly on a grill pan. Spread mustard on top, ketchup on the bottom.
  6. On the bottom half, place finely chopped sweet onion, a hot chopped patty, a slice of cheese and fresh lettuce. Cover with the top and serve.

Notes

If you like, reheat the assembled burger once more on a grill pan until it gets a nice grid on the bun.

Tips

  • You can replace half the milk in the dough with water.
  • The given amount of dough makes 5 buns of 100 grams each.
  • You can reheat the assembled burger once more on a grill pan - it leaves a nice grid pattern on the bun.
