Servings: 10 boats
Course: Pies
Cuisine: Home cooking

Ingredients

For the dough
  • 400 g flour
  • 1 tsp dry yeast
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • salt pinch
  • 180 ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the filling
  • 200 g hard cheese
  • 1 bunch fresh herbs
  • sesame seeds for sprinkling

Method

  1. In a bowl, mix the yeast with the sugar and half of the warm water and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to activate.
  2. Sift in the flour, add the salt and the remaining water and knead the dough, adding the vegetable oil at the end. Let the dough rest in a warm place for 40 minutes.
  3. For the filling, grate the cheese finely, finely chop the herbs and mix together.
  4. On a floured surface, divide the dough into 10 pieces. Stretch each into a small rectangle by hand, add the filling and pinch closed on both sides to form a boat shape.
  5. Grease a round 24 cm pan with vegetable oil and arrange the boats from the edges toward the center, forming the pie.
  6. Brush the pie with egg yolk, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake in an oven preheated to 170-180 °C for 30 minutes.
  7. Let the finished pie cool - the boats pull apart easily.

Notes

You can swap the filling: cottage cheese with herbs, feta or ham all work well too.
