Turn on the espresso machine and set the glass on the warming plate. Pour the milk into a pitcher, measure out the coffee, load it into the portafilter, tamp it firmly, and lock it into the machine.
Steam the milk until hot with soft, stable foam. Make sure the milk doesn't overheat or, worse, boil.
Pour the steamed milk into the Irish coffee glass, almost to the top.
Pull a strong shot of espresso.
Pour the coffee into the glass of milk in a thin stream down one side, so it forms layers.
Your latte is ready - enjoy your coffee!
